Hey, I’m Darryl! I’m a calisthenics coach and personal trainer based in Vauxhall, South West London.
I’ve been coaching clients at the Sleven Fitness gym in Vauxhall since 2019.
I offer one-to-one in-person training to help clients become stronger, more flexible, learn awesome skills through calisthenics and flexibility training. I also offer in-person personal training for couples.
I work with my clients to give them what they want – guiding them on the path to reaching their fitness goals. Whether that’s help with injuries, a focus on a specific skill, strength and conditioning, or mobility work.
My unique selling point is combining a personal approach with a technical one ensuring my clients are making progress physically and mentally. Everything I prescribe to my clients as as exercises and homework aims to be sustainable and scalable.
If you’re looking for a personal trainer to break down an exercise, work on your weaknesses, develop a unique workout to match your goals, have a seriously in-depth conversation about PAILS and RAILS (more about the acronyms later), and whether it should be called active flexibility or mobility, I’m your guy!
Sleven Fitness Gym
Sleven is an excellent gym to train from.
Sleven is located in Vauxhall, London. You can find it in one of the railway arches about 5 minutes walk from the Vauxhall bus and train stations.
They have a great community of coaches, personal trainers, and athletes. The focus is on strength, functional training, and conditioning classes for their members.
In my unbiased opinion Sleven is the top gym/training space in Vauxhall, and South West London.
When you train with me there’s no membership or entry fees to pay at Sleven, I cover all of these costs.
It’s a good sized gym/training space and they have built a close-knit community in a private space, so it’s great for personal training.
Sleven has everything you’d need for bodyweight training, accessory work, and more. Inside the gym, there are dedicated stations for strength and conditioning training, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), functional training, and mobility work.
It might be easier for me to list out all of the equipment I use regularly, to give you an idea. Just bear in mind, that there’s a lot more, including a disco ball!

Why Train with Me at Sleven?
Sleven provides a safe, comfortable space, where we can have training sessions semi-privately. The training space is ours because Sleven have a limited number of PT slots.
Because Sleven has a limit on the number of personal training sessions and members, you don’t feel like you’re being hurried to complete your set or give up an exercise station, like you often do in most gyms.
Sleven’s core competency is functional training, which shares a lot of similarities with calisthenics. There is a lot of cross-over, and equipment (see my list above) which we can use to target specific muscle groups and build progressions, which can sometimes be difficult without some assistance.
When you train with me, there’s no entry fee, and you don’t need to be a member! Everything is included as part of your personal training.
Sleven is dog-friendly, so you don’t need to leave your beloved pooch at home while we train.
Their coffee is the best I’ve had at any gym I’ve trained at. An espresso is a great pre-workout before a heavy training session!
What Can You Expect from Our Training Sessions?
We dive right in and tackle your goals head on, breaking down quality, technique and effectiveness.
I want us to get the most out of our sessions, tailoring exercises, reps/time, intensity to your level (and working and planning for progressions) and taking existing injuries into consideration while teaching all movements in a way to prevent any injuries.
We’ll focus on rehab/prehab exercises, as well as corrective exercises to sort any imbalances from lifestyle.
Homework is set either by notes or tracking via My PT Hub to ensure you have full transparency of your progress, as well as access to any videos or notes.
Other Areas to Train in South-West London
Having lived and trained in South West London for most of my life, it’s safe to say I’ve visited almost all of the indoor and outdoor calisthenics-friendly venues and put them through their paces.
While I exclusively train clients at Sleven, there are – of course – a few other gyms and outdoor venues I’d recommend for bodyweight calisthenics training in Vauxhall, Battersea, Stockwell, and Clapham.
My top three venues, excluding Sleven of course, are the Clapham Common Calisthenics Parks, Jetts Clapham Road, and Kennington Park.
What My Clients Say…
Darryl is my go-to guy whenever I’ve got a question about mobility or calisthenics. We’ve been having PT sessions regularly for some time now, and I keep coming back for more. He keeps me motivated to improve, do the homework, and explains all the technical movement mechanics in a way that I can understand. If you’re looking for a PT in Clapham that specialises in calisthenics and has great attention to detail, I’d recommend you book a few sessions in with Darryl – you won’t regret it. James Whayman
After an accident where one of my legs resulted injured. I was experiencing lots of mobility issues and pain. Contacted Darryl for helping me with this problem and after a massage and some mobility exercises, my leg is back to normal. Thanks Darryl David De Freitas
I’ve been training with Darryl for well over a year in total now (both individual and couple training). Because of the pandemic a lot of the sessions took place online. The training he offers is really unique, tailored and professional, both the in person as well as remote.
Darryl’s not only an expert in callisthenics and how human body works, he’s also a lot of fun to work with! I also tried his “Gua Sha” and it helped with my neck and back pain. If you want to learn and advance your calisthenics skills – Darryl is your man! Michal S
